I can’t believe my little G turned one last month! The first year of her life flew by and simultaneously dragged on. It was a ton of physical work – way more than I expected. I’m so grateful to have a daughter and that she is healthy and happy.
One year olds definitely do not need birthday gifts. And yet, they are so fun to shop for! For holidays or birthdays I always provided a list of gift options for our kids to friends and family. I find that providing a list of options is helpful – especially to loving grandparents who want to buy anything and everything. It makes it so that they can choose something themselves, but have a general idea of what you actually want for your kid.
Below is a roundup of gifts that our girl would actually play with. There are a lot of cute toys out there that seem great in theory, but many are not very interesting to kids. We don’t have any battery operated toys in our house, and most toys are majority wooden.
Gift Ideas
Walkers
Luma Wooden Baby Push Walker: This is a walker that is recommended by a pediatric PT on IG that I’ve taken tips from in the past. It’s also really beautiful. I love that it can be used as toy storage too.
Bajo Baby Wooden Walker: Also a beautiful option for a walker. I particularly love where the handle is located on the walker and the large wheels.
Grocery Toys
Wooden Vegetables: These are beautiful and I love that they are wooden and wouldn’t be an issue if a kiddo put them in their mouth and chewed on them… as one year olds tend to do.
Grocery Cart: This is another great walker option once a kid is more stable and in control with their steps. This cart gets a ton of use from both children and comes in handy during all the make believe grocery store play that happens in our home these days.
Jellycat Stuffies
Brown Dog & White Dog: We love Jellycat stuffies! We have several and our children always sleep with them.
Musical Toys
Music Board: G is very into hitting things together to make sounds, and I love that this board is more than just a xylophone.
Egg Shakers: These are another hit for G. She loves shaking them and that they make noise. And I love that they aren’t too loud.
Sensory Toys
Sensory Balls: These balls are one of the most played with toys in our play room. The kids love them.
Activity Walker: This one is cute, and I also love this option too.
Wooden Imaginative Play
Tractor: This tractor was a gift from some of our close friends. It’s not only beautiful, but it’s a very functional toy. The trailer is quite the hit with our children, believe it or not.
Noah’s Ark: I love that this comes with all the animals, too. They can be used to play with on the ark or on their own. It’s essentially a two-for-one toy.
Lovevery Kit
Lovevery Kits are a great idea for any occasion. We love all things Lovevery and they’re by far the most played with toys we have. They’re great quality, look beautiful, and I appreciate the mission behind all of their toys.
