Over spring break, we did two hikes. One was at our favorite place, and the other was in the beautiful Gorge. Hiking in the Gorge can be dicey. You never know what you’re going to get in terms of weather. Usually we pick a trail that leads to a waterfall so we aren’t as exposed to whatever conditions are happening that day (this is one of our favorite waterfalls), but I was craving big views so we opted for Mosier Plateau Trail. I wouldn’t say this is the greatest hike we’ve ever done in the Gorge, but A crushed the switchbacks and I was beyond proud. The trail began in a teeny tiny town. Like, less than 500 people kind of tiny. It was closer to Hood River and we could see several wineries on our way up. And we didn’t get rained on! The views at the top were really, really beautiful.
Hiking With Little Kids
A lot of people ask how we get A to hike these trails. We do a lot of breaks, a lot of pep talks, and forest school has helped tremendously with his willingness and ability to handle the weather. Also, all the gear helps too. And of course allllll the snacks.
