(A quick moment for our new kitchen faucets. I searched high and low for these, and they’re perfect for our cute old home. Snagged them here.)
Ending Summer In The Texas Heat
We ended summer with a very last minute trip to Austin over Labor Day Weekend. When I say last minute, I mean we booked flights on Sunday and left on Thursday! We got to see my sister and her husband again who drove down from Dallas (they were just in Portland a few weeks prior) and we finally got to meet our newish nephew who lives with my brother and SIL in Fort Worth. It was a full few days of family and such a special way to say farewell to summer. I got a solo workout in, we all got one more round of sun on our skin before the paleness returns, and it felt good to hang out in the heat one last time. I will say: it was SO NICE to return to Portland where it was 70 degrees. I can’t handle that Texas heat for too long. It’s no joke.
Also, as a ‘job well done’ gift to A for crushing two rounds of swim lessons and making so much progress this summer at the pool, I got him these goggles right before we left for Texas. They are a 10/10 and come in so many fun colors. And A was SO pumped he finally got a pair. He swims under water all the time now and loves diving for all the pool toys.
Feelings On School Starting
As I write this, my oldest is kid is at his first full day of Pre-K. I have so many mixed emotions about this! I’m thrilled for him, we love his teacher, it’s so close to our house (we leave out our back door when we walk to school!). I’m sad that ‘real school’ is inching closer and closer and I’m starting to see it on the horizon. I’m so proud of A and I know he’s going to be incredible at school. But I already miss our time together. And I’m excited about alone time with my girl G. There are so many emotions with motherhood and I am just trying to hold on and feel the feels while being grateful for health and thriving kids and this beautiful life we have!
All The Planning
I’m busy planning A’s 5th birthday (literally how is that possible?), halloween costumes, and in the waaay back of my mind beginning to think about christmas. (I know. I know.) We’re going to have a firefighter this year for halloween (this one is the best option I’ve found), and I’m throwing around the idea of having miss G in this adorable costume from Zara of all places.
Fall Wardrobe Plans
What I wear in September is what I’ve been wearing all summer – hah. But like everyone else, I’m excited for cooler weather. I finally ordered a proper warm winter coat, and I still need to stock up on sweaters. I really want a pair of the samba sneakers, too! Oh, and I’m obsessed with these pants. I own the red and green pair and wear them all the time. I backpack in them and I wear them to church! They’re the best!
Cheers to a new season!
