What I Bought Last Month

Last month’s purchases mostly had to do with gearing up for spring and summer activities. We are planning on sprucing up our back patio, and I’m excited to hang some string lights up. I’ve been wanting to do this for the last two summers. I snagged another pair of grey New Balance 574 sneakers (my favorites) and restocked on some of my staple beauty products. We’re headed somewhere warm at the end of the month, so I bought a fun small straw bag and finally splurged on the Jenni Kayne summer dress I’ve been eyeing for over a year.

Vitamin C Serum & Sunscreen:

Vitamin C Serum and Sunscreen: I am not a Beautycounter consultant, but it’s pretty much the only skincare brand I use. I started with one product a few years ago, and then slowly started adding more. Last fall I finally became a ‘member’ which essentially means I get free shipping over $100 and a kickback of store credit each time I make a purchase. This bottle of vitamin C serum will be my 5th or 6th bottle. It’s part of my very quick beauty routine in the morning. I bought some sunscreen for the first time as well for an upcoming vacation. I’ve never tried theirs, so we’ll see how I like it.

New Balance Sneakers & Mini Straw Tote

Sneakers: This is my second time purchasing these New Balance sneakers. They’re so comfortable, and I can actually play with my kids in them. I have the Veja sneakers, but I don’t find them comfortable at all. I still wear them because I like the way they look with certain outfits, but I’m excited to have these now as another option.

Kayu Mini Straw Tote: I’m very into the small totes/purses/bags I’m seeing everywhere. This bag is big enough to carry sunscreen, phone, keys, sunglasses, and a coin purse. The perfect size for my needs.

Lovevery Toys (from Target!)

Wobble Ring Stacker and the Hide and Find Drop Box: I was pleasantly surprised that some of Lovevery’s toys are now sold at Target. We have a few of their toys that were gifts or handed down to us from friends with older kids. I’m actually very impressed how well made these toys are, and they look beautiful on our toy shelf. A win-win.

Stanley 40 oz Tumbler & Toddler Tank

Stanley 40oz Tumbler: It’s hilarious to me how products can now go viral. These tumblers are impossible to find because they sell out immediately. I found this one from REI. It replaced my Hydroflask that does not fit in my car’s cupholder. I like that it is much bigger and I drink more water because of it. I do not like, however, that it spills really easily if I knock it over.

Toddler Tanks: I bought these up from Colored Organics. They’re good quality, sustainable/ethical, and I’m hoping they’ll last all summer for our toddler.

Outdoor Patio Lights & Sustainable Toilet Paper

String Lights: We’re coming up on our third summer in Portland. We have a pretty decent size patio where we spend a lot of time in the warmer months. We don’t normally go out after the kids are in bed though, and I’m hoping to change that by lighting up our backyard. I also bought some outdoor furniture cleaner to help our patio chairs that have been sitting outside all winter long.

Toilet Paper: At the beginning of the year we made a few easy changes in our house to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious. We switched our TP over to Who Gives A Crap, and we liked it enough to buy another round. And this time I added some paper towels to my order.
