1. Down Goes Michelle
Last week I go very, very sick. Like.. stay-in-bed-all-day kind of sick, which I NEVER do. I realized that when mom goes down, the entire system, order, and flow of our home and routines comes crumbling down. It was humbling and I’m SO GLAD to be back up and running this week. Even simple things like picking up A from school I’m looking forward to doing again!
2. Alcohol
I’m reading Quit Like A Woman right now, and it’s been very eye-opening and helpful as I continue to dive into shifting my relationship to alcohol and figuring out what it looks like. If the thought has ever popped into your mind of not drinking, drinking less, or you’re just nosy and want to know what I’m learning, I’d recommend ordering this book.
3. Haircut!
In the middle of my sickness last week when I thought I was getting better, I ran off to my hair appointment. It takes me forever to find a hair stylist I like when I move to a new city. It took two and a half years in Salt Lake, and three years in Portland… but I think I’ve finally found the person for me! This is my third time returning to him and he’s knocked it out of the park every time. I asked for more intense framing around my face than I normally do. I was feeling brave and risky. (Go to Carbon Salon and ask for Aiden!)
4. Matcha Lattes
I’ve been making these several afternoons throughout the week and they’ve been such a great pick me up. Here is what I do: boil milk (I use oat milk), while milk is boiling add maple syrup and matcha powder to a Vitamix. Pour boiling milk into Vitamix. Blend. Voila – you’ve got a frothy delicious hot afternoon drink. This is the matcha I use.
5. Marketplace Finds
I ended up on Facebook Marketplace when all of Portland was stuck inside because of a week-long snowstorm / ice storm / wind storm / etc. I’ve had friends recommend I check it out, but I always shrugged it off and thought it wasn’t for me. Then when a storm hit and I was going absolutely stir crazy, I found not one but TWO side tables in a matter of a few days. This post was super helpful on what to search for. The dark brown table needed a simple hardware update, and the other is going to need some more zhuzhing (don’t mind the paper towel under a leg keeping it steady – lol!). I’ve never stripped + painted furniture before, so we’ll see how it goes. My husband is happily supplying all of my tools and providing a lot of encouragement so that he doesn’t get sucked into doing this project:)
6. Art & Frames
After over a year and a half of living in this house, I finally purchased my first round of art. It arrived, and now the process of finding the perfect frames for the art begins. I found this latest round of art from Fine Little Day. They’ve got some good stuff over there.
7. Small Underwear
Potentially one of the most niche topics I’ve talked about, but I need to tell you about Tiny Undies! I could not for the life of me find underwear small enough for our petite gal last fall when we were potty training. They were all huge on her. This company makes small underwear that fits her perfectly! We loved them so much I just ordered more today.
8. Continuing My Sézane Partnership
I’m thrilled that I get to continue this partnership over the next year and share pieces of their collections with everyone. I’m already eyeing my next pics – specifically looking at spring jackets. (this, this and THIS!)
