Hiking To Mirror Lake

Last month we made a lofty goal to hike up to Mirror Lake with our kids. The hike isn’t too long, but the trail is covered in snow and there is a decent incline. C had the genius idea of bringing a sled for A to ride in. I wasn’t sure if we’d use it, but OH MY GOSH it was the best and most fun way to get up to the lake. It was a perfect blue sky day out near Mount Hood and the mountain was out shining in all of her glory. And of course, we ended the day with some hot chocolate in the parking lot courtesy of our Jetboil.

Another fun tip for this location is that there are tons of mini sledding hills at the trailhead. It’s like a huge playground of mini sledding hills. I want to come back here and not hike, but just spend time sledding and warming my kids up to the idea of sledding steeper hills. It would also be great for an intro to skiing for little ones too.

PS: The sled sled was $14 from Target. There are actual hiking sleds you can buy, but apparently Target ones work well too!
